Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh while emphasising on need for social security and financial inclusion of all sections of the society, today said that it was the responsibility of the government to create a sense of security and confidence among the people.
"Only financial inclusion will not work, providing social security to the people is equally important. A person can reach the height only when he has sense of confidence instead of fear," Rajnath said while addressing a function to mark simultaneous launch of insurance schemes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced in Kolkata the national launch of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY), which were simultaneously launched in different cities across the country.
"From even a small incident it seems that the entire family is affected. This create a sense of fear. If we conceptualise about a welfare scheme, then is it not our responsibility to create a sense of confidence for future. It is expected from any government," he added.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh said that after coming to power he thought on how to create confidence in villages and poor.
While terming Jan Dhan scheme as a beginning of financial inclusion, Singh said that it was due to active approach such a large number of bank accounts opened in such a short time.
He said that it has not happened anywhere in the world as around 15 crore new accounts were opened.
The Home Minister said that a universal health scheme would also be launched.
He said that like US where a health scheme has been launched in the name of Obama, here it would be launched in the name of Modi.
Praising Jan Dhan scheme, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, while presiding over the function, said that earlier a common man in rural areas could not reach the doors of a bank.
He said that schemes launched today could be termed as super campaign and it would reach rural areas as well as urban poor.
