SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav today regretted describing some of his cadres, who did not support the party during Lok Sabha polls, as "traitors", saying that it was not an appropriate word.
After debacle in Lok Sabha polls, in which Samajwadi Party won only five seats out of 80 in the state, the party had appointed observers in 26 districts to find out the reasons and cadres responsible for the poor showing.
Earlier, addressing a meeting of party workers, the SP leader has called the local party leaders whose role was dubious as traitors.
"Some people did wrong during the Lok Sabha elections, but the intention behind observers was not to single anyone out. That day I wrongly used the word traitor, which is not an appropriate word," Yadav said.
He said the observers had been sent to see whether the leaders and workers were functioning satisfactorily at the ground level
Referring to the report which was submitted to him today by the observors Yadav said "We will see whether the report is satisfactory or not".
