Director Rohit Shetty reveals his much-anticipated "Ram Lakhan" remake is on a temporary hold as he has failed to get an actor for the role of Ram.
Filmmaker Karan Johar announced in 2014 that his Dharma Productions was collaborating with Rohit for the remake of Subhash Ghai's 1989 superhit "Ram Lakhan" that featured Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles.
"We were suppose to do 'Ram Lakhan' but we were not getting Ram. And I did not want to compromise on the part of Ram. So it's better to do a solo hero film at present as youngsters want to do solo hero films," Rohit told PTI.
"It's a project that has pressure. We wrote the script and we have it with us. We will do it some day. After 'Dilwale' we were suppose to do 'Ram Lakhan' remake and 'Golmaal 4'. But as we were not getting Ram so we thought let's make 'Golmaal 4' first," he added.
Names of actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan had cropped up for the film.
"We approached a few actors for Lakhan but they wanted to make the film solo," Rohit said.
The director, however, makes it clear the project is not shelved. "We have kept it (the film's story) with us. It's my FD (fixed deposit)!" he quipped.
