Rangasamy launches free bicycle scheme for school students

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy has launched the Rs 7.68 crore scheme to distribute bicycles to students of government schools and also government aided institutions in the Union Territory free of coast.
An official source said that students of Class IX are being covered under this scheme which is being implemented under the banner 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Free Bicycles for students'.
The source said that a total of 26,207 students would be covered under the scheme.
Department of Social Welfare is the nodal agency for operating the scheme.
