Alam Ansari (32), who was arrested yesterday, was produced in the court today. The incident had taken place ten days ago.
"The accused is not cooperating with probe," said Sunil Kadam, the investigating officer.
"Before picking up the child and after raping her he had switched off his cell phone. So we were unable to trace his location at the time of the crime," he added.
"But the child has identified him and we are also awaiting his medical examination reports," Kadam said.
Ansari, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, is married and has a 2-year-old daughter. The victim knew him as "uncle" from a garment shop which her mother, who does embroidery work, often visited.
The girl, who underwent two surgeries, is still in hospital.
Police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his arrest and also released his sketch on projectors in nearby areas.
