RAS prelim exam reconducted today

Rajasthan Public Service Commission today reconducted Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) prelim examination 2013, which was cancelled in 2014 after paper leak, under unprecedented security arrangements.
"The exam was held successfully and initially there have been no reports of any untoward activity from anywhere," Rajasthan Public Service Commission Secretary Naresh Kumar Thakral told PTI.
"Elaborate arrangements were put in place for the examination and candidates were allowed to enter the centre only after proper checking," he said.
CCTV cameras and mobile jammers were installed at sensitive centres in Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur and Bikaner districts and candidates were allowed to enter after being frisked by the police, Thakral said.

Candidate turnout is usually about 50-55 per cent in any examination conducted by the RPSC but only 42 per cent of the total 4.7 lakh candidates appeared in the examination today, he said.
"It is most likely because of tight security and intense checking of each candidate," Thakral said, adding, arrangements of mobile jammers at 50 centres and CCTV at 132 locations were made to ensure that no candidate takes to cheating or leaking paper using hidden devices.
RPSC Chairman Lalit K Panwar said teams of police and district administrations ensured that no one could enter the centre with electronic devices, mobile phones, bluetooth devices or use any kind of unfair means.

The exam which was held on October 26, 2013 was cancelled in July last year after a Special Operation Group (SOG) busted a gang involved in leaking question papers of the RPSC, including of the RAS-2013 examination.
