"We have taken some new initiative by taking advantage of the available technology," Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Suman Goyal told reporters yesterday.
"A small traffic control room has been set up in Traffic Headquarters, Altinho, to monitor real-time traffic movement on important routes, specially during peak hours," she said.
The state has some important bridges on Zuari and Mandovi rivers and crucial junctions at Miramar, Dona Paula, Malim, Merces, among others.
"Whenever any blockage is noticed immediately an alert is given to the officers on the field and remedial measures are taken in least possible time. This system was set-up last month and it helped in traffic regulations during the peak tourist season on the occasion of New Year," she said.
