Barring a rise in red chilli prices on scattered demand from retailers against tight supplies from producing belts, other spices held steady at the wholesale kirana market today.
Traders said mild demand from retailers against tight supplies from producing regions mainly helped red chilli prices to rise.
In the national capital, red chilli prices moved up by Rs 100 to Rs 6,700-12,700 per quintal.
Following are today's quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 150-185, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,700-1,710 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,810-1,910.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 780-840, cardamom (colour robin) 780-800, cardamom bold 790-810, cardamom extra (bold) 920-970 and cloves 710-830.
