The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has registered a regular inquiry regarding allotment of industrial plots in Panchkula, by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in December 2011.
The inquiry would be conducted by a Special Investigation Team headed by A S Chawla, Inspector General of Police, State Vigilance Bureau, Gurgaon, a spokesman of the Bureau said here today.
To ensure early finalisation of the enquiry, Chawla would spend minimum three days in a week at Panchkula as most of the records related to this inquiry are in Chandigarh or Panchkula, he said.
The spokesman said that the Bureau has already written to Chief Administrator, HUDA to hand over the entire records related to allotment of these plots.
Two days back, the BJP government in Haryana had ordered a Vigilance inquiry to look into the allotment of 11 industrial plots by previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government in Industrial Estate, Panchkula in December 2011 to alleged "undeserving candidates".
The inquiry was ordered by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
These industrial plots ranging from 496 square metres to 1,280 square metres were allegedly allotted to the candidates who were either relatives of the then Chief Minister (Hooda) or those of his close associates and friends, a Haryana government release issued on May 5 had said.
The BJP government, which was formed after last year's assembly polls in October, had received several complaints drawing its attention towards alleged irregularities committed in allotment of industrial plots, including the charge-sheet submitted by Indian National Lok Dal to the Governor regarding this, the release had said.
After coming to power, the Khattar government had maintained that it will show zero tolerance towards corruption and probe all acts of omission and commission of the previous Congress government in the state.
