Instituted in 1996, the Dhirubhai Ambani Scholarship Programme has so far given away study scholarships to 10,000 students, including 2,000 differently-abled students, to help them bring into mainstream careers.
Some of the students hail from far-flung areas like J&K, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Lakshadweep etc.
The scholarships were introduced in 1996 in Maharashtra and Gujarat and from 2009 extended to the entire country.
Out of the 393 students awarded today, about 50 per cent are girls, founder and chairperson of the foundation Nita M Ambani said.
"Education has the catalytic power to transform lives and build a happy nation. Through these scholarships, we are committed to celebrating the accomplishments of the brightest of our youth and providing them the impetus to be aspirational and excel," she said, adding each recipient represents the hope, optimism and potential of the nation.
