Telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm President Sumit D Chowdhury has resigned to start his own venture

Telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm President Sumit D Chowdhury has resigned to start his own venture.

"The venture is in the field of smart cities," he told PTI.

This is the third high-profile exit from Jio and the second within a month after its managing director Sandeep Das was moved to its sister concern Reliance Retail.

Chowdhury joined Jio in September 2012. He worked as the chief information officer for a year and then moved into business leadership role.

In March 2014, Arvind Rao, looking after the innovation business and strategies, quit to pursue his own interest.

Later, in the year RJio human resources head Steve Correa also left the company.
