Meanwhile, Punjab Congress accused the SAD of misusing the government machinery and intimidating the party workers. The party has written to Election Commission giving details of "various violations" being committed by the Akali Dal particularly by its ministers and the Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, state Congress Rana Gurjeet Singh said. Akali ministers were moving around with all the security paraphernalia in a clear attempt to intimidate the voters, he said. Some of SAD leaders were also using beacon lights and hooters on their vehicles, Rana added.
