Repose mattress to increase production capacity to meet demand

: City-based Repose Mattress Pvt Ltd is increasing its production capacity to 1.2 lakh mattress per annum from the present 90,000 to meet the growing demand, a top company official said.
As spring mattress product is gaining popularity in the Indian market, due to its ability to adapt to body contours and maintain correct spinal position, the health conscious population is preferring spring-based mattresses, giving rise to its demand, Repose Chief Executive Officver, S Balachander told reporters here.
Considering the growing demand, the company is expanding its factory by another one lakh sq ft in addition to existing 60,000 sq ft, with an investment of Rs 7.5 crore, which will help produce 10,000 mattress per month, Balachander said.
Stating that the spring mattress category is about Rs 1,800 crore in the organized sector and growing at an average of 30 per cent per annum, he said the three-year-old Repose is growing at 35 per cent per annum, with a turnover of Rs 52 crore in 2015-16.
The company's target for thist fiscal is Rs 85 crore and in the coming few months, it planned to extend on geographies to the West, entering Goa and Maharashtra, he said.
For this, the company has decided to open a new factory in Pune, with an investment of Rs one crore, he said.
As part of pan-India expansion, Repose would add another 45 exclusive showrooms to the 30 in South India and 30 showrooms in Western parts, after the Pune factory becomes operational, Balachander added.
