The woman rescued from a paddy field near a train line here three days ago, is currently undergoing treatment here and was believed to be a resident of Karanataka.
The badly bruised and mentally unstable lady, apparently pushed from a running train, has provided some phone numbers but the respondents on the other side of the phone are not acknowledging her, a top police officer said today.
Stitching her disjointed statements, the police here surmised that the 32-year-old woman is one B. Usha Hanumanthapa and a native of Chikmagalur district of Karnataka.
ACP Trinath Mishra, who is probing into the matter, said while the friend of the woman refused to acknowledge her, her parents at Chikmagalur were also unresponsive.
The Karnataka police have been contacted.
