The MLAs who had submitted their resignation papers to the Speaker were four Naga People's Front (NPF) members Samuel Risom of Ukhrul Assembly, V Alexander Pou of Karong, Dikho of Mao AC and Nunghlung Victor of Chancel and Congress MLA Y Erabot of Wangkhei, who recently joined the BJP, an Assembly official said.
With the resignation of the five MLAs from the 60-member House, the total number of existing MLAs has reduced to 55.
Assembly elections to Manipur Assembly are slated for early 2017.
