Shiv Lal Verma, a retired railway employee and resident of Khadepur was duped of Rs 35 lakh by a Delhi-based private company after his son, Atul contacted them for setting up a petrol pump following an advertisement in the newspaper, police said.
The company allegedly demanded an advance of 10 per cent of the total amount and an additional Rs 35 lakh for setting a tyre showroom and service centre, they said.
The accused also made the victims open four accounts in different banks and withdrew Rs 35 lakh through net banking after the victims shared the passwords with the company.
An FIR has been registered in connection with the case under the Naubasta police station, they said.
We are looking into the papers provided by the company to the victims as well as the mobile numbers, police added.
