On a day when village-level revenue officials across Madhya Pradesh were on a strike demanding pay hike, one of them was today apprehended by Lokayukta Police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500.
Kanhaiya Lal Soni, a 'Patwari', was trapped by Lokayukta Police in Dindori district's Gadasarai village, around 140km from here, an official said.
Acting on a tip-off that Soni had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a family to settle a land dispute, a trap was laid and he was apprehended accepting Rs 1,500 as first instalment in his house, Lokayukta Inspector Nilesh Dohre said.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the Patwari, he added.
