Revenue officials booked for tempering with records inJ&K

The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today directed the Crime Branch to register a case against three revenue officials for tampering with records in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The SVC issued the order against former Patwari, Girdwar and Tehsildars of villages, Trigam and Dool of Kishtwar district for tampering with the records and subsequently attesting the mutation illegally to give undue benefitsto the beneficiaries, an SVC officer said.
The IG, Crime Branch has been asked to register a case against erring officials for starting further investigations in the matter, the officer said.
Earlier, taking cognisance of a complaint of Aijaz Ahmad Lone of Mandri Trigam, the SVC had referred the matter for an on the spot enquiry by District Vigilance Officer, Kishtwar.
The report submitted by DVO reveals that mutations of the land in question have been attested illegally by the revenue officials, besides tampering with vital revenue records of these villages, the spokesperson said.
The enquiry report further said that mutations of Trigam and Dool have not been attested in accordance with the rules by the authorities, he added.
The report also pointed that tempering have been found in the revenue records of Halqa Patwar Girdawari, Jamabandi also.
