Rice basmati extend losses on sluggish demand

Rice basmati remained weak and prices fell by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on subdued demand from retailers against sufficient stocks.
However, barley moved up on increased offtake by consuming industries.
Traders said muted demand from retailers against sufficient stocks position kept pressure on rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety eased to Rs 4,450-5,300 against last close of Rs 4,475-5,350 quintal.
On the other hand, other bold grain like, barley went up by 20 to Rs 1,600-1,605 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) Rs 10,700, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 11,300, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,700, Basmati common new Rs 5,500-5,600, Rice Pusa (1121) Rs 4,450-5,300, Permal raw Rs 1,900-1,950, Permal wand Rs 2,075-2,125, Sela Rs 2,400-2,500 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,775-1,800, Bajra Rs 1,600-1,605, Jowar yellow Rs 1,800-1,900, white Rs 3,400-3,500, Maize Rs 1,400-1,410, Barley Rs 1,600-1,605.
