However, other grains moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.
Traders said frantic buying by stockists against restricted supplies from producing regions and reports of a likely fall in kharif output mainly kept rice basmati prices higher.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety advanced to Rs 5,400-5,900 and Rs 4,500- 5,500 from previous levels Rs 5,000-5,400 and Rs 4,200-5,000 per quintal, respectively. Shri Lal Mahal rice also shot up by Rs 500 to Rs 11,300 per quintal.
