Reliance Industries will next month shut a crude oil processing unit at its only-for-exports refinery at Jamnagar in Gujarat for 10 days to carry out maintenance work.
"The SEZ unit of Jamnagar refinery of RIL is planning to shut down one crude distillation unit (CDU) for routine maintenance and inspection activities in the first half of July for about 10 days," the company said in a statement.
RIL's 29 million tons a year Jamnagar SEZ refinery has two CDUs of 290,000 barrels per day each.
CDU is the first processing unit in all petroleum refineries. The CDU distills the incoming crude oil into various fractions of different boiling ranges, each of which are then processed further in the other refinery processing units to produce fuel.
RIL's 33 million tons a year older refinery adjacent to the SEZ unit and catering to domestic requirements, will however continue to operate normally.
"The planned maintenance turnaround at the refinery is not expected to have any impact on commercial commitments," RIL said.
All other units at the Jamnagar refinery complex are planned to operate at normal throughput.
"The other three crude distillation units (one of SEZ and two of older refinery) including major secondary processing units are planned to operate at normal throughput," the statement added.
The two refineries together constitute the single largest refining complex in the world.
