Rise in night temp brings some relief from severe cold

Rise in minimum temperature brought some relief from virulent cold snap in parts of Northern region while snowfall and rains lashed Kashmir Valley and upper hills of Himachal Pradesh today.
In the capital city Delhi, where the sky remained cloudy throughput the day, the minimum temperature rose to 6.5 degree Celsius from yesterday's 4.4 degrees Celsius, bringing some relief from the chilly night.
As cloud cover persisted throughout the day, the maximum temperature settled at 18 degree Celsius in the capital.
In Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region, the mercury appreciated at most places due to overcast condition and intermittent snowfall.
Snowfall continued intermittently across the Valley, including its summer capital Srinagar, during the night with Z-Gali in frontier district of Kupwara recording the highest four feet of snow.
Srinagar which experienced about two inches of fresh snow, recorded a low of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius as against yesterday's low of minus 1.7 degrees Celsius.
The famous ski-resort of Gulmarg, which recorded 1.5 feet of snow, was one of the coldest recorded place in the Valley with a low of minus 7.0 degrees Celsius.
In the plains also, minimum temperature rose in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan
Punjab and Haryana also got some relief from fog though misty conditions prevailed this morning.
