RJD seeks Nitish's resignation reminding his precedent as

Senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today sought Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's resignation on Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse case while reminding him the precedent he had set as a railway minister.

It may be noted that the then railway minister Nitish Kumar had resigned taking moral responsibility of the Gaisal train tragedy in August 1999 that had killed around 300 people.

"I am reminding Nitish Kumar of the precedent that he had set by resigning as railway minister after a train accident. When Nitish Kumar can resign on the simple train accident, then he should resign on the much more heinous incident of sexual exploitation at Muzaffarpur shelter home where 34 girls were raped. The incident which has brought disrepute to the state," Singh told reporters here.

When pointed out whether the train accident (at Gaisal station) which he was referring to a simple one, Singh- who had information of death of merely 3-4 people in the train accident- said the train accident was not a simple one but, the Muzaffarpur shelter home incident is much more serious and grave.

RJD leader- who was accompanied by party leaders Ram Chandra Purbey, Tanvir Hasan, Ashok Singh, Shiv Chandra Ram- announced that party would start people's movement from August 9 to uproot the Nitish Kumar government.

Singh, a former Union minister and RJD national vice-president, aimed at piling pressure on Kumar in the wake of Muzaffarpur horror sage where 34 girls of the shelter home were allegedly raped.

"We galvanise party workers and people to launch a struggle to bring to an end to the Nitish government. Our struggle will continue till inefficient, corrupt and atrocious Nitish government is thrown out of the power," Singh said adding that party will hold "Jail Bharo Andolan" in January next year.
