Several RLD activists threw hot sand over themselves to protest against the rising pollution in Yamuna river here.
While protesting at Cheer Ghat in Vrindavan here, the former Mahanagar president of the RLD, Tara Chand Goswami, slammed the Centre and the state government for making "false claims" of cleaning the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
Direct discharge of drains into holy river Yamuna is a witness of false claims of the BJP government at the state and Centre about cleaning of Ganga and Yamuna, he said.
The pilgrims will now be forced to take dip in polluted Yamuna on the occasion of Ganga Dushehra, he said.
He urged the Mayor to make sure that drains were not directly discharged into the Yamuna.
