Parwinder Singh (35) was attacked by three unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants on March 29 when he was returning back home in Chachoki village from his mobile store.
Grievously injuring Singh, the attackers took away his Activa scooter, mobile and wallet. The victim, who had been admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana, succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
Claiming a complaint into the case was registered by the police twenty days after the incident on April 17, the victim's family demanded action against those cops who had been responsible for the delay.
The family members further demanded Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to meet them at the protest site to hear their grievances regarding "the anarchy prevailing in the state on the law and order front".
Sub-divisional magistrate P P Singh, ADC SK Singla and Superintendent of Police HPS Khakh requested the family to end the protest and cremate the deceased's body, they however refused to leave till late in the night.
Meanwhile, Khakh told reporters that Section 302 (murder) has now been added to the case against the unknown assailants.
