The robbery took place last night at Pappu's home in Harmarpur area, police said, adding that the assailants entered the house by scaling wall of the house.
They made the family hostage at gun-point and also thrashed Pappu and his wife after they resisted.
"Six armed assailants scaled house wall of Pappu at 1 AM last night and held him and his family members hostage at gun-point. They asked for money and when Pappu resisted one of accused brutally hit him with a gun's butt," said a senior police officer.
"They robbed jewellery, some cash from the house. Based on complaint filed by Pappu, we have registered a case against unknown persons at Loni Police station," he said.
Police said that they were scanning footage of CCTV installed nearby area.
