The 28-year-old actor, who has been been splitting his time between California, New York and London, is looking for a four-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouse in Brooklyn's Vinergar Hill neighbourhood, reported Us magazine.
"He doesn't want to be bothered by people constantly but he also doesn't want to be away from all the fun of the city," a friend close to the actor said about his preference for Brooklyn.
The actor may be looking to settle on the East Coast as his relationship with his girlfriend and singer FKA Twigs has become more serious in recent weeks, a source said.
