Assistant Commandant Vinit Kharab will lead the marching contingent of the Railway's armed force.
The history of the RPF dates back to 1882 when various Railway companies appointed their own guards for protection of Railway property.
RPF was declared as statutory force in the year 1957 by an enactment of Parliament and subsequently declared as an armed force of the Union of India in the year 1985.
The force is responsible for safeguarding the Railway property and also ensuring safety and security of passengers, a release said.
Smart young men of RPF Contingent dressed in traditional Angola shirts and Khaki trousers with colourful striped headgears with embroidered badges, and armed with INSAS are participating in the parade.
Railways is presenting a special tableau with the theme "Indian Railways - On a Fast Track to the Future".
The tableau showcases a high speed train-design of which is based on existing high speed trains of the world.
