A sum of Rs 1.20 crore in cash was allegedly stolen from Bollywood filmmaker Satish Kaushik's residence in suburban Versova by his domestic help, police said today.
The bag containing the cash was stolen by one of the three domestic helps, Sajan Kumar, yesterday afternoon from the actor-director-producer's house in Raj Classic apartment, said Senior Police Inspector Harishchandra Parmale at Versova police station.
The help has been absconding since then. Hence, four police teams have been formed to track down Sajan, who hails from Jharkhand, police said, adding, "the teams have been dispatched to different places outside Maharashtra."
According to police, the cash was handed over to Kaushik by one of his employees on Friday and the director had plans to deposit the amount in the bank on Monday.
On Sunday, the bag with cash could not be found in the house following which Kaushik's wife approached police and an FIR was registered, the officer said.
Kaushik's family did not provide Sajan's details to the police when he was employed as domestic help four months ago, police said.
Police encourage citizens to share details of their domestic helps at the local police stations as a precautionary measure.
