The burglars stole the money last night, the sources said,
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) L. H. Shanlian told PTI that six people were detained by police for interrogation and a criminal case registered at the Lawngtlai Police Station.
Shanlian did not rule out the possibility of the crime being an inside job and the investigation was also directed at this angle.
The reason of keeping such huge amount of cash in the safe of an office was also yet to be explained, the sources said.
