A section of Rajya Sabha members belonging to the Congress, the DMK, the TMC and the CPI today staged a demonstration in Parliament premises and demanded exemption to Tamil Nadu from the purview of the NEET exam.
Speaking to reporters after the protest, the Upper House MP MK Kanimozhi today said as a principal opposition party in the state, the DMK was demanding a permanent solution for students in all fronts.
"We will be persistently raising the issue in Parliament with the help of like-minded parties," she said.
DMK MPs Tiruchi Siva, R S Bharathi, T K S Elangovan, CPI's D Raja and Congress' Hussain Dalwai, All India Trinamool Congress' Dola Sen, Derek O'Brien and Vivek Gupta took part in the protest.
Both the factions of the ruling AIADMK and the opposition party in the state legislature have been holding talks with Centre demanding president's nod for two bills passed recently by the state assembly and now pending with the Centre.
