RSP posts record performance in first 3 quarters of 2018-19

The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Thursday said it has registered its best-ever performance on all major fronts during the first three quarters of 2018-19.

With production of 28,10,876 tonnes of hot metal, 26,88,080 tonnes of crude steel and 24,43,511 tonnes of saleable steel dieing April-December period, the plant has not only set new benchmarks but also recorded growth of 13.6 per cent, 12.6 per cent and 12.4 per cent respectively, over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, it said.

The plant's Steel Melting Shop-II produced an all-time high of 24,08,538 tonnes of crude steel which is 13.33 per cent higher than the hot metal it produced in the same period last year, RSP said in a statement.

Best-ever production of sinter (46,35,032 tonnes), HR coils total (12,50,244 tonnes), plates from New Plate Mill (6,26,882 tonnes) are other major highlights of the period.

The total dispatch of 24,50,800 tonnes of saleable steel was also all-time high for any April-December and a rise of 9.2 per cent over the corresponding period of the last fiscal, it said.

CEO of RSP, Ashwini Kumar congratulated the collective effort of the staff, it said.
