"The number of shakhas in the state (WB) stands at 1,492 - up against 1,240 in 2014, 902 in 2013 and 872 in 2012. We now organise our daily and weekly programme in 262 out of the 341 blocks of the state," RSS state secretary Jishnu Basu told reporters.
"Presently we are organising 50,432 shakhas across the country, which is 6,684 more than the previous year," Basu said.
Referring to the recent beef festival in the city, Basu said "It is highly condemnable that a beef festival had been organised hurting the sentiments of Hindus. Had a pork festival been organised, there would have been accusations of creating communal tension.
