Police apprehended the accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar Yadav, from his native district Katihar yesterday.
"Police recovered Rs 4.97 lakh in cash, 330 gm gold jewellery and 1,200 gm silver jewellery out of Rs 8.5 lakh in cash and other valuables including gold, diamond and silver ornaments he had allegedly stolen from the house of city-based businessman Sharad Agarwal on November 30 last year," said ADCP (Crime) S Varada Raju.
"After committing the crime, he fled to his hometown in Bihar and handed over some cash and ornament to his father Parameswar Yadav. A team of III Town police station recovered part of gold and cash from Yadav's mother," Varada Raju said.
