A Russian lawyer advising Edward Snowden says the National Security Agency leaker has agreed to fulfill his pledge not to hurt the US interests if he is granted asylum in Russia.
Anatoly Kucherena said that today, three days after meeting with Snowden in the transit zone of Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport to discuss the condition that Russian President Vladimir Putin has set for Snowden to be granted asylum in Russia.
The American has been at the airport since flying to Russia from Hong Kong on June 23. The United States wants him sent home to face prosecution for espionage.
Kucherena told The Associated Press that once Russia's Federal Migration Service formally confirms the asylum request has been received Snowden will be able to move about freely while awaiting the final decision.
