The departure of Shatabdi trains from here to Mysuru and Coimbatore and Kovai Express, also bound for Coimbatore, were rescheduled and left about two hours late this morning, a senior Railway official said.
"As of now, we have re-railed both the engines. Two lines are restored. We are working for full restoration of services..", the official told PTI.
Traffic has been restored on two suburban lines -- Gummidipoondi and Sulurpeta -- while skeletal services were operated on the other two lines to Avadi and Tiruvallur.
Traffic on four lines in the Chennai-Tiruvallur section was suspended following the accident, leading to delay in departure of various trains last night.
