Table topper Salgaocar FC will look to put behind the disappointment of their defeat and consolidate top spot when they take on Sporting Clube de Goa tomorrow in an Airtel I-League match here.
Both teams are coming in the match, to be played at Duler Stadium here, with a defeat.
Salgaocar, who lost to Bengaluru FC early this week, are tied at 18 points along with Pune FC and Bengaluru but still head the table on account of better goal difference.
They would aim to collect full points against Sporting to maintain their top position.
The Goa club appeared sluggish and lacked sharpness in attack against Bengaluru in the last match.
Salgaocar coach Derrick Pereira wants to forget the past and focus on tomorrow's game.
"My boys looked focused during the practice session and want to win against Sporting Clube de Goa, who, too, lost their last match against Churchill Brothers SC," he said.
Salgaocar midfield appears strong with Francis Fernandes, Gilbert Oliveira and Clifton Dias combining well to keep the attack going. However, their success will largely depend on ability of strikers Darryl Duffy and Claude Gnakpa to cash in on the goal-scoring chances.
Sporting have 15 points from 10 matches and they are currently on the fifth position.
Sporting coach Oscar Bruzon knows they are up against a formidable rival and will have to play an organised game if they fancy any chance of a victory.
Their success will largely depend on striker Boima Karpeh, who will be spearheading the attack.
