The Indo-Swiss pair struggled to find their rhythm as they lost 4-6 4-6 to their fifth seeded French opponents.
Today's loss meant that Sania and Hingis remained on four titles this season. They have already won titles in Sydeny, Brisbane, Australian Open and St Petersburg this season.
The French pair were off to a great start, forcing consecutive service breaks against their much fancied opponents to open up a 3-0 led in the first set.
Caroline and Kristina started the second set with a bang, breaking the Indo-Swiss combination to go into the lead. Both teams then managed to hold their serve before the French duo took the second set 6-4 and clinched match in one hour and 23 minutes.
