Sanjay Singh richest candidate in RS elections in Assam

Lok Sabha member from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Singh emerged the richest among Rajya Sabha contestants in Assam with total assets worth Rs 20.62 crore, according to his affidavit while filing papers for the RS seat.
Assessing properties under the Congress candidate's wife's name, the total value of movable and immovable assets totalled Rs 34.55 crore.
Along with his wife, Singh has movable properties worth Rs 6.39 crore, while it is Rs 28.17 crore in case of immovable assets.
As per the affidavit, the Singh couple possess two pistols, two DBBL (Double Barrel Breech Loading) guns, one carbine and a rifle, besides a total of 96.772 acres of agricultural land in Uttar Pradesh.
Four RS nominations have been filed from the state.
Former journalist Haidar Hussain, who is supported jointly by opposition BJP, AGP and AIUDF, has emerged as the poorest candidate with total properties, considering his wife's as well, worth Rs 54.64 lakh only.
He has Rs 43.68 lakh worth properties under his name.
Of this, Rs 6.68 lakh is valued as movable properties, while he has Rs 37 lakh as immovables.
Another Congress candidate and the state unit President Bhubaneswar Kalita has Rs 6.17 crore worth of properties. Considering his wife's assets, this number goes up to Rs 7.55 crore.
