Santosh Trophy: Goa defeat Punjab, enter semi-finals

Four-time former champions Goa today registered a solitary goal win over Punjab to enter the semi-finals of the 70th Senior National Football Championship, here today.
The only goal of the match was scored by Francis Fernandes in the 17th minute. Goa kept up the pressure in the second half also but they could not increase their tally.
Goa now has 10 points from three victories and one draw. The side drew goalless with Tamil Nadu while defeated Assam 1-0 and West Bengal 3-1 in their earlier fixtures.
In the other fixture, Tamil Nadu outplayed West Bengal by 1-0. Tamil Nadu's lone goal was netted by M Soosai Raj five minutes after resumption against West Bengal.

Punjab who suffered defeat at the hands of Goa today had earlier lost to West Bengal and have recorded only a single win in the tournament against Assam.
Railways play Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow while Services are up against Mizoram.
