A court in Darjeeling district today remanded Saradha scam accused Sudipta Sen and Debjani Mukherjee to 14 days' judicial custody in one of the cases in the multi-crore ponzi scheme scandal.
Siliguri fast track court judge Madhumita Basu also allowed the police to interrogate Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen and his deputy Debjani Mukherjee.
The judge rejected the bail petition of Mukherjee and ordered the jail authorities to check her health regularly as her counsel submitted that she was "not well".
The case had been filed against the company on May 22 by a depositor, Uma Pal Chowdhury.
A large number of agents and depositors, who had allegedly been duped by the company, thronged the court premises.
Sen, Mukherjee and another close associate of the former were arrested from Sonmarg in Kashmir on April 23. A number of cases had been filed against the company in various police stations across the state.
