The 45-year-old actress will star opposite Emma Stone and Steve Carell in the Fox Searchlight movie about the 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Silverman is set to star as Gladys Heldman, who was the founder of World Tennis magazine. Gladys supported Billie Jean King (Stone) and other female players who formed the Virginia Slims Tour in the early 1970s, which was the precursor of today's WTA Tour.
Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are directing from a script by Simon Beaufoy. Decibel Films' Danny Boyle and Cloud Eight's Christian Colson are producing the project.
