Peace has been restored in the state, but a small remnant of insurgents still existed by using the soil of Bangladesh and Myanmar and were in league with other insurgent outfits of the North East region, Sarkar said.
Prominent tribal leader Dashrath Deb played an important role in bringing back disgruntled elements who had joined insurgency movement to normal life and that Deb had also become the Chief Minister of state, Sarkar added.
