In a move to provide cricket fans an unmatched experience leading up to cricket's showpiece event, the site has unveiled an extensive plan through a range of new products and sections on a responsive microsite dedicated exclusively to the 50-over event.
The T20 World cup in March 2014 registered around 250 million page views, 89 per cent more than all competition put together.
"We're all set to roll out an exciting line-up of content on ESPNcricinfo that stays true to our reputation of being the one-stop-shop for cricket enthusiasts, lovers and purists. The new sections and products combine ESPNcricinfo's best-in-class cricket writing talent with engaging features that place the cricket fan at the centre of the experience." said Ramesh Kumar, Head, ESPN Digital Media India and ESPNcricinfo.
As part of its repertoire for the 100 days countdown, ESPNcricinfo will be launching the World Cup Timeline section for global cricket fans which dives into each of the previous World Cups through galleries, quizzes, analysis and videos from each of the earlier tournaments.
Sambit Bal, Editor, ESPNcricinfo speaks on the line-up, "A global event like the World Cup is the perfect platform for us to showcase the global nature of our operation. In addition to our bunch of high-quality journalists drawn from seven different countries, our coverage will also feature leading experts including Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting, Michael Holding, Ian Chappell, Daryll Cullinan, Martin Crowe and Ajit Agarkar."
Ponting said, "I'm really excited to be joining the team at ESPNcricinfo. I've been an avid consumer of the site for many years and now can't wait to share my insights as a contributor especially as the next 12 months will have so many highlights and gripping contests.
