"Our friendship runs for years and perhaps that reflects on screen. The role is the director's prerogative but we must now how it is envisaged and etched out on screen. When I know Ronie (Rajatabha) is there working out a difficult scene perhaps turns easier," Saswata told PTI at the outdoor location of the film here.
"From the office going clerk scared about his daughter's safety in the neighbourhood, to the genie of magic lamp and the bemused owner, and now a retired, stern looking cop and his elder son in the joint family - God knows which other roles are in the platter for us two," the Meghe Dhaka Tara protagonist as Nilkantho Bagchi, a.K.A Ritwik Ghatak said.
"The roles of a cop clinging on to the joint family system and his son, having fetish for 70s Bollywood masala and dressed up like a matinee idol of that era, has situational comic elements which both of us reveled," Saswata quipped.
Sabyasachi Chakraborty's popular actor son Arjun Chakroborty, having earned kudos for his performance in Bapi Bari Jaa and Jodi Love Dile Na Prane, said "I am the younger son of Bonkubabu in the film. And yes I play my age. Me and Ronieda both are on-screen sons of Apuda and there are hilarious scenes."
Directed by Anindya Bikas Dutta, the middle-aged Saswata looks like a 70-somerthing Bonkubabu with the make-up done by Bhootnath 2 man Dhananjay, having made Amitabh Bachchan looking like a ghoulish looking but benign ghost.
Bonkubabu, also shot in Thailand virgin beaches is produced by Asthami Films.
