Satyarthi agrees to run two centres in Jharkhand

Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi today said that he agreed to Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das' request to run two rehabilitation centres for rescued children in Ranchi and Gumla.
"I went with five issues and the chief minister added the sixth one and urged me to run two centres, which the state government will set up in Gumla and Ranchi," Satyarthi said at a press conference here.
"I agreed to the chief minister's offer," he added.
The centres would set up for rehabilitation of rescued children and their education, skill training and social and psychological well being would be looked after so that they would not fall victim to trafficking for a second time, Satyarthi said.

The points that Satyarthi urged before the chief minister were enactment of Jharkhand Private Placement Agencies and Domestic Workers (regulation) Bill, development of state plan of action for children, adoption of villages by legislators to develop them as child friendly villages.
There were two more points -- creation of Chief Minister's Fund for Rehabilitation of Child Victims of Trafficking and appointment of Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation as the nodal agency for capacity building on child Protection.
Satyarthi said that the chief minister was agreeable to these suggested areas.
