Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry says authorities in the kingdom have arrested two people suspected of being behind an attack on a vehicle carrying German diplomats.
The shooting took place January 13 in the eastern town of al-Awamiya, where minority Shiites frequently clash with police and protest against Saudi Arabia's Sunni rulers. The diplomats' vehicle caught fire but the two diplomats inside were not harmed.
Ministry spokesman Mansour al-Turki said in a statement Sunday that Ahmed el-Aradi was detained February 3 and allegedly confessed he was involved in the shooting. The statement says Hadi al-Hazaim was also detained on April 16 for his suspected involvement in the shooting.
The ministry statement did not give further details.
