With the commissioning of the scheme which has been funded under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT), water supply in Anantnag town and adjoining areas would be augmented with around 1.12 lakh people having access to safe drinking water, an official spokesman said.
Last week, the Chief Minister had commissioned the 10 MGD Sukhnag Water Supply Scheme in Budgam, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 121 crore.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 45.96 crore, Bamzoo Water Supply Scheme, sourced from Ahrigol and Mulsoo springs as well as Lidder stream, would benefit 52 habitations, the spokesman said.
He said the work on the scheme was started by PHE Department in 2009 and its distribution network is spread over an area of 16.25 kms.
