The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a plea seeking a probe into reported claim of former Home Secretary and BJP Lok Sabha MP R K Singh that several Mumbai police personnel were on the pay roll of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
"Unko kahiye ki aur khulashe karen taki unlogon ke khilaf karwai ho sake (Ask Singh to reveal more so that action can be taken against those persons)," a bench comprising Chief Justice T S Thakur and justices R Banumathi and U U Lalit said.
The bench dismissed the plea filed by Ramesh Ranchhoddas Joshi, a native of Mumbai, seeking a comprehensive probe into the claims of Raj Kumar Singh, former bureaucrat lawmaker who had also served as Home Secretary during UPA rule.
Joshi, who argued in chaste Hindi, said Singh, an MP from Aara in Bihar, had given an interview to a TV channel which was aired on August 23, 2015.
The MP had claimed that many policemen were getting money from Dawood and in the process, were undermining the law and order of the country, he said.
The CJI responded in Hindi and later, dismissed the plea.
