The accident took place when Ayovin Jana (15), a student of Don Bosco school, tried to board a running train at Park Circus railway station on his way back home to Behala, but slipped and fell on the railway track, Investigating officer of Ballygunge GRPS Pradip Kumar Das said.
"He was run over by the train," he said.
"It came to our notice at about 11.25 AM. We immediately informed this to Ayovin's father, Arunava Jana at his Parnashree Pally residence in Behala and also the Don Bosco school authorities," Das said.
"The victim's father and the school teachers later went to the spot and identified the body, before it was sent for post-mortem examination," he said.
